Thoracoscopic Sleeve Lobectomy

Thoracoscopic sleeve lobectomy is a minimally invasive lung operation that removes a diseased lobe and an adjacent portion of the main bronchus while preserving the remaining lung. Surgeons use thoracoscopic instruments and a camera through small chest incisions to divide the involved airway, remove the lobe and tumor, and reconnect the bronchial ends with a precise anastomosis. This parenchyma-sparing approach is primarily used for centrally located lung cancers that would otherwise require pneumonectomy, or removal of an entire lung. By maintaining functional lung tissue, it can support postoperative respiratory capacity while providing oncologic resection in appropriately selected patients.
