Led Lighting

LED lighting uses light-emitting diodes to convert electrical energy into visible light, offering efficient, durable illumination across applications from displays to architectural and general-purpose lighting. In a semiconductor p-n junction, forward-bias voltage drives electrons and holes into the active region, where their recombination releases photons through electroluminescence; the semiconductor band gap determines the emitted color. Phosphor coatings can convert some emitted light to produce white illumination, while electronic drivers regulate current and brightness. In physics, LED lighting illustrates energy quantization, semiconductor behavior, and electrical-to-optical conversion, while its low energy consumption, long operating life, and controllable spectrum support advances in sustainable lighting and optical technologies.
