Sephadex G-25

Sephadex G-25 is a cross-linked dextran gel-filtration medium used in biochemistry to separate proteins and other macromolecules from smaller solutes. In size-exclusion chromatography, molecules pass through a packed column and are separated according to their access to the gel’s pores: proteins larger than the approximately 5 kDa exclusion limit are largely excluded and elute first, while salts, free nucleotides, and other small molecules enter the pores and are delayed. Sephadex G-25 is therefore widely used for desalting, buffer exchange, removing low-molecular-weight reagents, and preparing protein samples for subsequent purification or analysis.

In Situ Measurement of Vacuum Window Birefringence using 25Mg+ Fluorescence

2020

Presented here is a method to measure the birefringence of vacuum windows by maximizing the fluorescence counts emitted by Doppler cooled 25Mg+ ions in an ion trap. The birefringence of vacuum windows will change the polarization states of the laser, which can be compensated by changing the azimuthal angles of external wave plates.

This protocol outlines a rapid method to simultaneously generate melanocyte and fibroblast cultures from the skin of 0-4 day old mice. These primary cultures can be maintained and manipulated in vitro to study a variety of physiologically relevant processes, including skin cell biology, pigmentation, wound healing and melanoma.

NiO Nanoflowers for Non-Enzymatic Amperometric Detection of Glucose
