Recording Chamber

A recording chamber is a device that securely holds an isolated tissue, cell preparation, or small organism while enabling controlled measurement of its biological activity. It typically stabilizes the specimen in a defined environment, often using a physiological solution, temperature control, continuous perfusion, and access for electrodes or optical sensors. In biology, recording chambers support electrophysiological measurements such as membrane potentials and synaptic responses, as well as imaging and pharmacological experiments. By maintaining viable preparations while researchers manipulate ions, drugs, stimulation, or flow conditions, they provide reproducible data on cellular communication, neural function, muscle activity, and tissue physiology.

Chambers of the Heart

2025

The human heart is a complex organ made up of four chambers: the right and left atria and the right and left ventricles. These internal chambers are separated by partitions known as the interatrial and interventricular septa. The exterior of the heart features a groove known as the coronary sulcus that demarcates the atria from the ventricles, while the anterior and posterior interventricular sulci distinguish between the two ventricles. Deoxygenated blood from the body is received in the right...

Electroencephalography-Based Recording Technique to Record the Epileptiform Activity

Human Neutrophil Flow Chamber Adhesion Assay

2014

A method of quantitating neutrophil adhesion is reported. This method creates a dynamic flow environment similar to that encountered in a blood vessel. It allows the investigation of neutrophil adhesion to either purified adhesion molecules (ligand) or endothelial cell substrate (HUVEC) in a context similar to the in vivo environment with sheer stress.
