Du145 Cells

DU145 cells are a human prostate cancer cell line established from a brain metastasis and widely used to study prostate tumor biology. In culture, these adherent epithelial-like cells proliferate under defined laboratory conditions and provide an androgen-independent model for examining cellular signaling, gene regulation, migration, invasion, and responses to treatment. Researchers use DU145 cells to evaluate anticancer compounds, investigate mechanisms of disease progression, and compare therapeutic effects in vitro. Their reproducible growth and metastatic origin make them a useful experimental system for cancer research, while results must be interpreted alongside other prostate cancer models to reflect tumor diversity.
