Lentiviral Overexpression

Lentiviral overexpression is a gene-delivery method that enables sustained production of a selected protein in target cells, making it valuable for studying gene function and disease biology. Engineered lentiviral vectors carry an expression cassette into cells, where the vector RNA is reverse-transcribed and commonly integrated into the host genome, allowing promoter-driven transcription over extended periods. In cancer research, this approach can increase expression of oncogenes, tumor suppressors, signaling proteins, or drug-resistance factors in cultured cells. Researchers use the resulting models to examine cancer phenotypes, identify molecular pathways, evaluate therapeutic responses, and support functional genetic screens.
