Quality Assessment

Quality assessment is the systematic evaluation of a material, product, or analytical result against defined standards, helping determine whether chemical data are reliable and fit for purpose. In chemistry, it combines validated measurement procedures with calibration, reference materials, blanks, and replicate analyses to examine accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and potential contamination; comparing results with acceptance criteria reveals bias or unacceptable variability. These practices support identity and purity testing, reaction monitoring, pharmaceutical and environmental analysis, and laboratory quality control. Consistent assessment improves reproducibility, strengthens confidence in reported results, and helps researchers identify problems before they affect scientific conclusions or manufacturing decisions.
