Substrate Preheat Temperature

Substrate preheat temperature is the controlled temperature of a material or surface before a chemical deposition, coating, or reaction begins. Heating the substrate alters surface energy, adsorption, solvent evaporation, nucleation, and reaction kinetics, thereby influencing how precursor molecules interact with and form a layer on the surface. In thin-film chemistry, selecting an appropriate preheat temperature can improve coating uniformity, adhesion, crystallinity, and control of film thickness, while excessive heat may cause premature decomposition, unwanted reactions, or substrate damage. Monitoring and optimizing this parameter helps researchers achieve reproducible surface modification and reliable material performance.

One-step fabrication method for obtaining freestanding epitaxial double heterostructure is presented. This approach could achieve ZnO coverage with a higher number density than that of the epitaxial single heterostructure, leading to a piezoelectric nanogenerator with an increased output electrical performance.

Measurement of Tension Release During Laser Induced Axon Lesion to Evaluate Axonal Adhesion to the Substrate at Piconewton and Millisecond Resolution

We measured the tension release in an axon that was partially lesioned with a laser dissector by simultaneous force spectroscopy measurement performed on an optically-trapped probe adhered to the membrane of the axon. The developed experimental protocol evaluates the axon adhesion to the culture substrate.

Here we describe a protocol for measuring and analyzing temperature responses in the olfactory bulb of Xenopus laevis. Olfactory receptor neurons and mitral cells are differentially stained, after which calcium changes are recorded, reflecting a sensitivity of some neural networks in the bulb to temperature drops induced at the nose.
