Diagnostic Support

Diagnostic support refers to the clinical processes, tools, and evidence that help healthcare professionals identify, evaluate, and distinguish possible diseases or conditions. It works by combining patient history, symptoms, physical examination findings, laboratory results, imaging, and validated decision-support methods to assess differential diagnoses and estimate the significance of clinical findings. In clinical practice, diagnostic support can improve the organization and interpretation of complex information, guide appropriate testing, and support timely communication and treatment planning. It complements, rather than replaces, professional judgment, while promoting more consistent decision-making, patient safety, and evidence-based care.
