Fusarium Oxysporum Detection

Fusarium oxysporum detection is the identification of this soilborne fungal species in environmental samples, a critical step for monitoring plant disease risks and assessing ecosystem health. Detection commonly relies on isolating fungal material or amplifying species-associated DNA with polymerase chain reaction (PCR), including quantitative PCR, which uses sequence-specific primers to detect and estimate fungal abundance in soil, water, or plant residues. These methods can provide faster and more sensitive results than culture-based identification alone. Environmental surveillance supports early disease management, studies of pathogen distribution and persistence, and evaluation of soil or crop treatments intended to limit fungal spread.

A rapid and accurate point-of-care test for invasive pulmonary aspergillosis is presented. It takes advantage of lateral-flow technology using a specific monoclonal antibody that binds to an Aspergillus antigen secreted during pulmonary infections. The assay is compatible with serum and brochoalveolar lavage and represents a novel adjunct test for disease diagnosis.
