Cardiac Mri Imaging

Cardiac MRI imaging is a noninvasive method that uses magnetic fields and radiofrequency waves to create detailed images of the heart, helping clinicians assess anatomy, function, and tissue health without ionizing radiation. During scanning, ECG gating synchronizes image acquisition with the cardiac cycle, while sequences such as cine imaging track chamber motion and, when indicated, gadolinium-based contrast highlights blood flow, inflammation, or scar tissue. In medicine, cardiac MRI supports evaluation of cardiomyopathies, congenital heart disease, ischemia, and myocardial viability, guiding diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up. Its ability to combine structural, functional, and tissue characterization data makes it valuable in cardiovascular research and precision care.

Source: Frederick W. Damen and Craig J. Goergen, Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana In this video, high field, small-bore magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with physiological monitoring is demonstrated to acquire gated cine loops of the murine cardiovascular system. This procedure provides a basis for assessing left-ventricular function, visualizing vascular networks, and quantifying motion of organs due to respiration. Comparable small animal...

The sensitivity gain inherent to ultrahigh field magnetic resonance holds promise for high spatial resolution imaging of the heart. Here, we describe a protocol customized for functional cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) at 7 Tesla using an advanced multi-channel radio-frequency coil, magnetic field shimming and a triggering concept.

Contrast enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging allows comprehensive in vivo assessment of the heart in small animal models of cardiovascular disease. Here we detail the procedures to perform CMR imaging, reconstruction and analysis using Small Animal Lock-Locker Inversion Recovery (SALLI) in rats.

The method presented here uses simultaneous positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. In the cerebral hypoxia-ischemia model, dynamic changes in diffusion and glucose metabolism occur during and after injury. The evolving and irreproducible damage in this model necessitates simultaneous acquisition if meaningful multi-modal imaging data are to be acquired.

Introduction: MRI and CT scans are crucial advancements in medical imaging techniques, playing a vital role in diagnosing conditions related to the gastrointestinal (GI) system. Each scan serves distinct purposes, targets specific areas, and requires unique nursing duties. Description of the Procedures Computed Tomography (CT) scan: Computed Tomography (CT) scans use X-ray technology to generate detailed images of bones, organs, and tissues. During the scan, the patient lies on a moving table...
