Da Vinci Robot

The da Vinci Robot is a computer-assisted surgical system that enables surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures with enhanced visualization, dexterity, and control. During surgery, the operator sits at a console and directs articulated instruments attached to robotic arms, while a high-definition, three-dimensional camera transmits the operative field; the system translates hand movements into precise instrument motions without acting autonomously. In medicine, this platform supports procedures in specialties such as urology, gynecology, general surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery, often through small incisions. Its use can improve access to confined anatomical spaces, although outcomes depend on patient selection, surgical expertise, and clinical evidence.

This paper discusses the methodology used to reveal the 'Uncatchable Smile' illusion in Leonardo da Vinci's La Bella Principessa portrait. A combination of three methods was used (inter-observation, structured interviews, and psychophysical experiments), which led to an investigation that shaped itself without prior beliefs, thus reducing potential researcher bias.

ROS Detection with DCFH-DA Staining: Measuring Total ROS in Colorectal Cancer Cell Lines

2023

This video describes the protocol for detecting total cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) using 2',7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA). This method helps visualize ROS localization in the adherent cells using a fluorescence microscope and further quantify ROS intensity with a fluorescence plate reader.
