Non-arterialized Model

A non-arterialized model is an experimental transplantation model in which a graft functions without reconstruction of its arterial blood supply, allowing researchers to examine the effects of portal venous perfusion alone. In liver research, the transplanted graft receives blood primarily through the portal vein, while the hepatic artery remains absent or disconnected, creating conditions that can affect oxygen delivery, biliary tissue, and graft adaptation. This model is used to investigate ischemia-reperfusion injury, hepatic artery dependence, biliary complications, and mechanisms of graft recovery. It provides a controlled framework for studying transplantation physiology and evaluating strategies that may improve graft survival and function.

A cell culture model of resistance arteries is described, allowing for the dissection of signaling pathways in endothelium, smooth muscle, or between endothelium and smooth muscle (the myoendothelial junction). The selective application of agonists or protein isolation, electron microscopy, or immunofluorescence can be utilized using this cell culture model.

A model of stent implantation in mouse carotid artery is described. Compared to other similar methods, this procedure is very rapid, simple and accessible, offering the possibility to study in a convenient way the vascular wall reaction to different drug-eluting stents and the molecular mechanisms of restenosis.
