Workflow Optimization

Workflow optimization is the systematic improvement of how tasks, information, people, and resources move through a process to increase efficiency, consistency, and value. In medicine, it involves mapping clinical and administrative steps, identifying bottlenecks or redundant activities, and redesigning processes through standardization, prioritization, automation, or better coordination. Effective optimization can reduce delays, support clearer communication, improve resource use, and help healthcare professionals devote more time to patient care. Applications include clinical pathways, diagnostic services, medication management, surgical operations, and electronic health record processes. By combining process analysis with feedback and performance measurement, workflow optimization supports safer, more responsive, and sustainable healthcare delivery.

Optimal Foraging Organisms must acquire and use resources in their environment to survive. While food is one of the primary resources organisms must search for, individuals also need to seek habitats, shelter, and mates. This process of searching for resources is known as foraging, which involves a series of costs and benefits. More specifically, acquiring a resource provides the organism with a benefit, however, searching and capturing the resource requires expenditure of time and energy.
