Neuroplasticity Modulation

Neuroplasticity modulation is the deliberate alteration of the brain’s capacity to change its structure, function, or connectivity in response to experience, learning, injury, or treatment. It works by influencing activity-dependent processes such as synaptic strengthening or weakening, changes in neural circuits, and the formation or elimination of connections, often through behavioral, environmental, pharmacological, or stimulation-based interventions. In neuroscience, studying neuroplasticity modulation helps explain how training and rehabilitation can improve function after neurological damage, while also guiding strategies for learning, disease management, and brain repair. Understanding when plasticity is beneficial or maladaptive is essential for designing targeted interventions.

Neuroplasticity reflects the brain's remarkable capacity to adapt and evolve, responding dynamically to learning, experiences, or injury by reorganizing its neural circuitry. This reorganization involves creating new neural connections and refining old ones through a series of biological processes that contribute to the brain's lifelong development and adaptability. • The brain's ability to change begins with the growth of dendrites and axons, which effectively increases the structural...

2014

Neuronal plasticity is an increasingly recognized, but insufficiently understood feature of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Here, in the example of human pancreatic disorders, we present an in vitro neuroplasticity assay for the study of neuronal plasticity in the GI tract at both morphological and functional level.
