Real-time Eeg

Real-time EEG (electroencephalography) is a method for recording and analyzing the brain’s electrical activity as it occurs, providing a dynamic view of neural function. Scalp electrodes detect voltage fluctuations generated by synchronized neuronal activity, while signal-processing algorithms filter artifacts and translate the data into time-resolved patterns such as frequency bands or event-related responses. In neuroscience, real-time EEG supports seizure monitoring, neurofeedback, sleep research, and brain-computer interfaces. Its millisecond temporal resolution helps researchers and clinicians track rapid changes in brain state, link neural activity with behavior, and develop responsive technologies for studying or assisting brain function.

EEG is a non-invasive technique that can measure brain activity. The neural activity generates electrical signals that are recorded by EEG electrodes placed on the scalp. When an individual is engaged in performing a cognitive task, brain activity changes and these changes can be recorded on the EEG graph. Therefore, it is a powerful tool for cognitive scientist aiming to better understand the neural correlates associated with different aspects of cognition, which will ultimately help them...

Real-Time Electroencephalography-Triggered Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Cortical Excitation

(2019)This video demonstrates the process of real-time EEG-triggered transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to study cortical excitability. The procedure involves positioning the TMS coil over the motor cortex, synchronizing stimulation with specific phases of the EEG signal, and recording motor-evoked potentials (MEPs) to explore...

We present protocols and methods of analyses to build co-adaptive interfaces that stream, parameterize, analyze, and modify human body and heart signals in close-loop. This setup interfaces signals derived from the peripheral and central nervous systems of the person with external sensory inputs to help track biophysical change.
