Forced-choice Paired-comparison

Forced-choice paired-comparison is a behavioral assessment method that measures preferences by requiring an individual to choose between two alternatives. During repeated trials, an assessor presents different pairs of stimuli under consistent conditions, records each selection, and compares choice frequencies to rank the alternatives; the forced-choice format prevents participants from avoiding a decision. In behavior research and applied settings, this procedure helps identify preferred foods, activities, materials, or reinforcers for a specific individual. Results can guide individualized interventions, strengthen motivation during skill acquisition, and support objective analysis of choice patterns when direct preference reports are limited or unavailable.

Psychophysics is essential for studying perception phenomena through sensory information. Here we present a protocol to perform a two-interval forced-choice task as implemented in a previous report on human psychophysics where participants estimated the duration of visual, auditory, or audiovisual intervals of aperiodic trains of pulses.

Comparison Between Electrical And Gravitational Forces

2023

There are four fundamental forces in nature: the gravitational force, the electromagnetic force, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force. To compare the numerical strengths of the first two, take two particles of the same kind. Since electrons are fundamental particles, they are a good example. Since both are inverse square law forces, the distance gets canceled when the ratio of the two forces is considered. Instead, the ratio of the electrical and gravitational forces depends on...

2023

This protocol aims to investigate the neural activity related to social comparison and social distance during the processing of intertemporal decision outcomes. Indifference points will be measured using event-related potentials as part of the study.
