Low Pressure Process

A low pressure process is a manufacturing or bioprocessing operation conducted below atmospheric pressure to alter how gases, liquids, or volatile components behave, often helping protect heat-sensitive biological materials. By lowering the surrounding pressure, the boiling point of a liquid decreases and dissolved gases can leave solution more readily; pumps, vacuum chambers, and pressure-control systems maintain the selected conditions. In bioengineering, these processes support solvent removal, concentration, drying, and other material-preparation steps while limiting exposure to high temperatures. Careful control of pressure, temperature, flow, and residence time helps preserve product properties and improves reproducibility in laboratory and industrial workflows.

Pressure and Volume in an Adiabatic Process

2023

Free expansion of a gas is an adiabatic process. However, there are few differences between free expansion and adiabatic expansion. During free expansion, no work is done, and there is no change in internal energy. But, for an adiabatic expansion, work is done, and there is a change in internal energy. During an adiabatic process, the relation between the pressure and volume is obtained from the condition for the adiabatic process, that is, However, for a free expansion process, this...

2017

An experimental method to measure geometrical parameters and the apparent advancing contact angles describing capillary wicking in unidirectional synthetic and natural fabrics is proposed. These parameters are mandatory for the determination of the capillary pressures that must be taken into account for liquid composite molding (LCM) applications.

The laser heated diamond anvil cell combined with synchrotron micro-diffraction techniques allows researchers to explore the nature and properties of new phases of matter at extreme pressure and temperature (PT) conditions. Heterogeneous samples can be characterized in situ under high pressure by 2D mapping and combined powder, single-crystal and multigrain diffraction approaches.
