Cytocentrifugation

Cytocentrifugation is a laboratory technique that concentrates cells from a dilute liquid suspension into a small, defined area on a microscope slide, enabling efficient cytological analysis. During controlled centrifugation, a sample is loaded into a specialized chamber, and centrifugal force drives cells toward the slide while excess fluid is removed or absorbed, producing a concentrated cell spot for staining and examination. In cancer research, cytocentrifugation supports the evaluation of rare cells in body fluids, cultured samples, and cell suspensions by preserving cellular morphology for microscopy, immunocytochemistry, or related analyses. It can improve detection and characterization of malignant cells when sample volume or cell number is limited.

CTC Immunofluorescence Assay : A Technique to Characterize Circulating Tumor Cells

2023

This video describes the Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) Immunofluorescence assay, a technique to characterize the biomarkers on circulating tumor cells in non-small cell lung cancer patient samples. This assay could be used to monitor dynamic changes of the tumor and immune response, which may reflect the response to chemotherapy, radiation, and possible immunotherapy treatments.
