Fluorescent Tumor Cells

Fluorescent tumor cells are cancer cells labeled or engineered to produce fluorescent signals, enabling researchers to visualize and track them in living systems. Fluorescent proteins or chemical dyes emit light at defined wavelengths after excitation, allowing microscopy or imaging methods to reveal cell location, movement, growth, and interactions with surrounding tissues. In cancer research, these cells support studies of tumor development, invasion, metastasis, and treatment response, including monitoring how tumors change over time. Their visible signals also help researchers isolate cancer cell populations and evaluate experimental therapies, providing a practical link between cellular behavior and disease progression.

We describe a multi-angle rotational optical imaging (MAROI) system for in vivo quantitation of a fluorescent marker delivered by saposin C (SapC)-dioleoylphosphatidylserine (DOPS) nanovesicles. Employing mouse models of cancer and arthritis, we demonstrate how the MAROI signal curve analysis can be used for the precise mapping and biological characterization of disease processes.

In this paper, we present a method to analyze tumor microvessels in vivo using dynamic contrast-enhanced fluorescence videomicroscopy. Two quantitative parameters were acquired: functional capillary density reflecting the vascularity of the tumor, and index leakage reflecting the leakiness of the endothelial wall.

In Vivo Fluorescence Imaging to Localize Antibodies in a Mouse Tumor Xenograft Model

2025

The video demonstrates a fluorescence imaging method for in vivo antibody localization in a mouse tumor xenograft model. It involves the injection of tumor cells in a mouse to generate solid xenografts beneath the skin. Subsequent injection of fluorescent antibodies confirms specific localization through enhanced fluorescence signals within the tumor xenograft.
