Performance Evaluation

Performance evaluation is the systematic assessment of how effectively a person, procedure, device, or clinical service achieves defined goals. In clinical settings, it uses predefined indicators, standardized conditions, and measured outcomes to compare observed results with benchmarks, reference standards, or expected levels of care. Evaluators may examine accuracy, reliability, efficiency, safety, and patient outcomes using structured observations, performance tests, or clinical data. These assessments help identify strengths and limitations, support quality improvement, validate diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, and guide decisions about training, implementation, and resource allocation. Consistent evaluation also strengthens evidence-based practice and promotes safer, more effective healthcare.

A Comprehensive Procedure to Evaluate the In Vivo Performance of Cancer Nanomedicines

Cited by 7 •

2017

The poor understanding of the in vivo performance of nanomedicines stymies their clinical translation. Procedures to evaluate the in vivo behavior of cancer nanomedicines at systemic, tissue, single-cell, and subcellular levels in tumor-bearing immunocompetent mice are described here. This approach may help researchers to identify promising cancer nanomedicines for clinical translation.

We developed a new ex vivo model that applies constant tension to the porcine gastric specimen. This development made it possible to evaluate the performance (the height and duration of the submucosal elevation) of various SIMs accurately. The detailed setup methodology of this new model is explained.
