3d Meshed-core Structure

A 3D meshed-core structure is a lightweight engineered architecture in which an interconnected three-dimensional network forms the internal core of a component, providing stiffness while reducing material use. Its performance depends on mesh geometry, strut connectivity, and load transfer through the cellular network: applied forces spread across multiple pathways, while the open volume lowers mass and can support tailored mechanical behavior. Engineers use these structures in sandwich panels, lightweight components, and additively manufactured parts where strength-to-weight ratio, energy absorption, thermal management, or material efficiency matters. Adjusting cell size, topology, and material enables designs optimized for specific loading conditions and manufacturing constraints.

The Nucleosome Core Particle

2020

Nucleosomes are the DNA-histone complex, where the DNA strand is wound around the histone core. The histone core is an octamer containing two copies of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4 histone proteins. The paradox Nucleosomes, paradoxically, perform two opposite functions simultaneously. On the one hand, their main responsibility is to protect the delicate DNA strands from physical damage and help achieve a higher compaction ratio. While on the other hand, they must allow polymerase enzymes to access DNA...
