Flux Linkage

Flux linkage is the total magnetic flux associated with the turns of a coil, connecting magnetic fields to induced voltage in electrical engineering. When each turn links the same flux, linkage equals the number of turns multiplied by the magnetic flux; a changing linkage induces an electromotive force according to Faraday’s law, with the rate and direction of change determining voltage magnitude and polarity. Engineers use flux linkage to analyze transformers, inductors, motors, and generators, relating winding geometry, core materials, current, and magnetic saturation to electrical performance and energy conversion.

Ligand Binding and Linkage

2020

Allosteric proteins have more than one ligand binding site; the binding of a ligand to any of these sites influences the binding of ligands to the other sites. When a protein is allosteric, its binding sites are called coupled or linked. In the case of enzymes, the site that binds to the substrate is known as the active site and the other site is known as the regulatory site. When a ligand binds to the regulatory site, this leads to conformational changes in the protein that can influence the...

Phosphodiester Linkages

2026

A phosphodiester bond forms when a phosphoric acid molecule (H3PO4) links with two hydroxyl groups (–OH) of two other molecules, forming two ester bonds. Two water molecules are released in this process. The phosphodiester bond is commonly found in nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and plays a critical role in their structure and function.Phosphodiester Bonds Link Nucleotides TogetherDNA and RNA are polynucleotides or long chains of nucleotides that are linked together. A nucleotide is composed of a...

Linkages Among the Factors of Production

2025

Factors of production are closely interconnected. The change in the availability of one factor of production can influence the optimal quantity of another factor of production. Consider a large farm employing several workers and renting many tractors. A significant natural calamity, such as a widespread health crisis, can impact labor supply. Such a crisis can tragically result in the loss of human life, thereby reducing the number of available workers. A reduction in the supply of labor...

Measurements of CO2 Fluxes at Non-Ideal Eddy Covariance Sites

2019

The presented protocol uses the eddy covariance method at non-typical locations, applicable to all types of short-canopy ecosystems with limited area, on a currently reforested windthrow site in Poland. Details of measuring site setup rules, flux calculations and quality control, and final result analysis, are described.
