Neutral Currents

Neutral currents are currents that flow through a system’s neutral conductor, providing a return path for unbalanced electrical loads. In a three-phase circuit, balanced phase currents cancel in the neutral, while unequal loading produces a residual current; zero-sequence components and triplen harmonics can also add rather than cancel. Engineers analyze neutral currents when designing distribution systems, selecting conductor sizes, and protecting equipment from overheating and voltage distortion. Measurement and monitoring help identify load imbalance, nonlinear devices, and power-quality problems, supporting safer, more efficient electrical networks in buildings, industrial facilities, and power systems.

2016

This study describes an imaging-based micro-neutralization assay to analyze the antigenic relationships between viruses. The protocol employs a flatbed scanner and has four steps, including titration, titration quantitation, neutralization, and neutralization quantitation. The assay works well with current circulating influenza A(H1N1)pdm09, A(H3N2), and B viruses.

An acid-base reaction is one in which a hydrogen ion, H+, is transferred from one chemical species to another. Such reactions are of central importance to numerous natural and technological processes, ranging from the chemical transformations within cells or lakes and oceans to the industrial-scale production of fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, and other substances essential to the society. There are several ways of defining an acid. In the context of aqueous solutions, an acid is a substance...

2025

This video demonstrates a technique for generating escape variants of neutralizing influenza virus monoclonal antibodies. Antibody-neutralized virus suspension is injected into embryonated chicken eggs to propagate escape variants selectively. This results in a virus population predominantly of escape variants, confirmed via a Hemagglutination assay.

Cell-Based AAV Neutralizing Antibody Assay: A Colorimetric Technique to Detect Neutralizing Antibodies Against Specific Adeno-Associated Viruses in Serum

2025

In this video, we demonstrate an in vitro colorimetric assay to detect the presence of neutralizing antibodies against alkaline phosphatase-expressing recombinant adeno-associated virus serotype 6 (rAAV6) vectors in sheep serum samples. The assay utilizes the reaction between the AAV encoding a human placental alkaline phosphatase gene and its substrate to generate an insoluble purple product.
