Sandwich Wall Panels

Sandwich wall panels are engineered composite building elements made from two relatively thin, stiff facings bonded to a lightweight core, combining enclosure, structural, and thermal functions in one assembly. When loads act on the panel, the facings resist tension and compression while the core transfers shear, maintains spacing, and limits heat flow across the wall. Common core materials include mineral wool, expanded polystyrene, and polyurethane, each providing different balances of insulation, weight, moisture resistance, and fire performance. Used in industrial buildings, cold-storage facilities, and modular construction, sandwich wall panels support rapid installation, reduced dead load, and improved energy efficiency when properly designed and detailed.

The following protocol describes the procedure to assemble sandwich-like cultures to be used as an intermediate stage between bi-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) cellular environments. The engineered systems can have applications in microscopy, biomechanics, biochemistry and cell biology assays.

Wood Panel Products

2024

Wood panel products are essential materials used in construction for applications such as flooring, siding, and roofing, typically available in standard dimensions of 4 feet by 8 feet, with thicknesses varying from one-quarter of an inch to one and one-eighth inches. Among the most common types of wood panels is plywood, which is produced by gluing multiple layers of thin wood veneers under pressure. The grain of the outer veneers runs lengthwise, while the grains of the interior layers run...

2012

A technique called Comprehensive Microarray Polymer Profiling (CoMPP) for the characterisation of plant cell wall glycans is described. This method combines the specificity of monoclonal antibodies directed to defined glycan-epitopes with a miniature microarray analytical platform allowing screening of glycan occurrence in a broad range of biological contexts.
