Human Lymphocytes

Human lymphocytes are white blood cells that provide adaptive and innate immune defense, making them central to protection against infection and immune regulation. B cells recognize antigens and differentiate into antibody-producing plasma cells, whereas T cells use antigen receptors to coordinate immune responses or destroy infected cells; natural killer cells can trigger apoptosis in stressed or abnormal targets without prior antigen sensitization. In immunology and infection research, analyzing lymphocyte activation, proliferation, cytokine release, and memory formation helps explain vaccine protection, immune deficiencies, autoimmune disease, and responses to cancer and emerging pathogens.

T lymphocyte migration occurs during homing to lymphoid organs, exit from the vasculature, and entering into peripheral tissues. Here, we describe a protocol that can be used to analyze T lymphocyte migration in vitro.

Efficient Isolation Protocol for B and T Lymphocytes from Human Palatine Tonsils

Palatine tonsils are a rich source of B and T lymphocytes. Here we provide an easy, efficient and rapid protocol to isolate B and T lymphocytes from human palatine tonsils. The method described has been specifically adapted for studies of the viral etiology of tonsil inflammation known as tonsillitis.

Delivering Effector T Lymphocytes into Mice Carrying Human Brain Tumors

This video demonstrates a stereotaxic injection technique for administering human effector T lymphocytes into a murine model carrying a human brain tumor. Upon positioning a tumor-bearing anesthetized mouse on a stereotactic frame and creating a burr hole at the injection location on the skull, effector T lymphocytes are injected at the tumor site.
