Bone Mass Analysis

Bone mass analysis is the quantitative assessment of bone mineral content and density, providing an important indicator of skeletal strength and fracture risk. In clinical practice, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) measures how bone tissue attenuates two low-dose X-ray beams, allowing software to estimate areal bone mineral density and compare results with reference populations. Physicians use these measurements to identify low bone density, support osteoporosis diagnosis, monitor changes during treatment, and guide fracture-prevention strategies. In medicine and research, bone mass analysis also helps evaluate skeletal development, aging, metabolic bone disorders, and the effects of medications or lifestyle interventions on bone health.
