Dispersible Tablets

Dispersible tablets are solid oral dosage forms designed to break down in water before administration, producing a relatively uniform dispersion that can be easier to swallow than an intact tablet. Their formulation combines active pharmaceutical ingredients with disintegrants and other excipients that promote rapid water penetration, swelling, and breakup under specified conditions, while maintaining dose uniformity and stability during storage. In medicine, dispersible tablets can support patients who have difficulty swallowing, including children, older adults, and people with some medical conditions. Their performance depends on dispersion time, palatability, dosing accuracy, and appropriate preparation, making formulation and quality control important in pharmaceutical development.

2023

This article discusses the process used to formulate and prepare Taohong Siwu, a traditional Chinese medicine, as a dispersible tablet. We performed single-factor and orthogonal experiments to screen the prescription excipients, optimize the formulation process, and produce dispersible Taohong Siwu tablets.

We tested the usability of a tablet-computer-based application (EmoCogMeter) in investigating the effects of age on cognition. Results show an age-related cognitive decline, thereby proving the usability of our application. Findings underline the great clinical and practical potential of a tablet-based application for detection and monitoring of cognitive dysfunction.

Ecology is the study of how organisms interact with their environment and with one another. An important aspect of ecology is understanding where species are found and how individuals are distributed within those areas. The geographic range of a species refers to the total area where its members are located, while dispersion describes the pattern of spacing of individuals within that range.Geographic Range and Dispersion PatternsWithin a species’ geographic range, individuals may be distributed...

Adapting Taylor Dispersion to Measure the Dispersion Coefficient of Electrolyte Solutions via an Accessible Microfluidic Setup

2025

Here, we present a protocol to adapt the Taylor dispersion experiment to the microscale using microchannels fabricated in-house with a desktop craft cutter. The experimental platform can be used to compute the diffusion coefficient of single-species passive tracers and to visualize multispecies ion interaction and separation.
