Intraoperative Mobilization

Intraoperative mobilization is the controlled movement or release of tissues, organs, or anatomical structures during surgery to improve access, positioning, or functional assessment. Under direct visualization, the surgical team frees structures from adhesions or surrounding attachments and repositions them while monitoring tissue tension, stability, and blood supply. This approach can facilitate exposure of difficult anatomical planes, support reconstruction, and help surgeons assess whether a repair or alignment is adequate before closing. In medicine, intraoperative mobilization contributes to safer, more precise procedures by integrating anatomical knowledge with real-time mechanical and physiological evaluation.

Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA)

2023

The electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) is a biochemical procedure used to elucidate binding between proteins and nucleic acids. In this assay a radiolabeled nucleic acid and test protein are mixed. Binding is determined via gel electrophoresis which separates components based on mass, charge, and conformation. This video shows the concepts of EMSA and a general procedure, including gel and protein preparation, binding, electrophoresis, and detection. Applications covered in this video...
