Prp Isolation

PRP isolation is the laboratory process of separating platelet-rich plasma from a patient’s whole blood to concentrate platelets and plasma proteins for clinical or research use. Typically, anticoagulated blood undergoes centrifugation, which separates red blood cells, platelet-poor plasma, and the platelet-enriched fraction according to differences in density; the selected plasma layer is then collected under controlled conditions. The resulting preparation can be characterized by platelet concentration, leukocyte content, and volume, factors that influence its biological activity. In medicine, PRP isolation supports investigations and treatments involving tissue repair, wound healing, musculoskeletal injuries, and regenerative therapies.

Implant-associated infection is a significant clinical complication. This study describes an approach using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to prevent implant-associated infections, presents the protocol for preparing PRP with constant platelet concentration, and reports the newly identified antimicrobial properties of PRP and related protocols for examining such antimicrobial properties in vitro.

Effects of Allogeneic Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) on the Healing Process of Sectioned Achilles Tendons of Rats: A Methodological Description

This protocol describes the evaluation process of healing tendons in rats that have been injected with allogeneic platelet rich plasma (PRP) or saline solution after removing part of the Achilles tendon. The progress of tendon healing is evaluated at several time points using different types of analyses.

We describe the isolation of cardiac extracellular matrix from C57Bl/6J control mice, tight-skin mice, and tight-skin mice treated with the IRF5 inhibitory peptide. We also describe the vasodilation studies on the isolated vessels from C57Bl/6J, tight-skin mice and tight-skin mice treated with the IRF5 inhibitory peptide.
