Red Blue Goggles

Red blue goggles are anaglyph visual devices that use differently colored filters to present separate images to each eye, creating a three-dimensional viewing experience and a tool for studying binocular vision. The filters selectively transmit one color channel while blocking or attenuating the other, allowing the brain to combine slightly offset images through binocular disparity and generate depth perception. In neuroscience, these goggles help researchers investigate stereopsis, visual cortex processing, binocular rivalry, and interocular suppression. They also support demonstrations and experiments involving amblyopia, depth perception, and the neural integration of information from both eyes.

Channelrhodopsin-assisted circuit mapping (CRACM) is a precision technique for functional mapping of long-range neuronal projections between anatomically and/or genetically identified groups of neurons. Here, we describe how to utilize CRACM to map auditory brainstem connections, including the use of a red-shifted opsin, ChrimsonR.

The preparation and exfoliation of CaCuSi4O10 and BaCuSi4O10 are described. Upon stirring in hot water, CaCuSi4O10 spontaneously exfoliates into monolayers, whereas BaCuSi4O10 requires ultrasonication in organic solvents. Near infrared (NIR) imaging illustrates the NIR emission properties of these materials, and aqueous dispersions of these nanomaterials are useful for solution processing.

Red Algae

2025

Red algae, also known as rhodophytes, are primarily found in marine environments, though some species inhabit freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems. These organisms exist in both unicellular and multicellular forms, with some multicellular varieties reaching macroscopic sizes. As phototrophic organisms, red algae contain chlorophyll a; however, their chloroplasts lack chlorophyll b. Instead, they possess phycobiliproteins, which serve as major light-harvesting pigments, similar to those found in...
