Dendrite Growth

Dendrite growth is the development and remodeling of branched neuronal extensions that receive and integrate signals from other cells, making it essential for nervous system connectivity and adaptation. During development and learning, cytoskeletal changes guide dendritic branching and the formation of dendritic spines, while neuronal activity and molecular signals influence which connections stabilize or are eliminated. In psychology and neuroscience, studying dendrite growth helps explain synaptic plasticity, memory formation, and changes in neural circuits associated with experience. It also provides insight into how altered neuronal development may contribute to cognitive impairment, neurodevelopmental conditions, and recovery after brain injury.

This study presents a feasible procedure for synthesizing gold dendritic nanoforests on titanium nitride/silicon substrates. The thickness of gold dendritic nanoforests increases linearly within 15 min of a synthesis reaction.

T Cells Capture Bacteria by Transinfection from Dendritic Cells

Here a protocol is presented to measure bacterial capture by CD4+ T cells which occurs during antigen presentation via transinfection from pre-infected dendritic cells (DC). We show how to perform the necessary steps: isolation of primary cells, infection of DC, DC/T cell conjugate formation, and measurement of bacterial T cell transfection.
