Consensus Pharmacophore

A consensus pharmacophore is an abstract model that represents the shared three-dimensional chemical features required for molecules to bind a biological target, making it useful for interpreting molecular recognition in biochemistry. It is generated by comparing pharmacophore models derived from multiple active ligands and retaining recurring features, such as hydrogen-bond donors or acceptors, hydrophobic regions, and aromatic or charged groups, along with their spatial relationships. Researchers use consensus pharmacophores to guide virtual screening, identify structurally diverse compounds with similar binding potential, and prioritize candidates for experimental testing. The approach can also support lead optimization by revealing which interactions are consistently associated with biological activity.

2019

Lung ultrasound is a noninvasive and valuable tool for bedside evaluation of neonatal lung diseases. However, a relative lack of reference standards, protocols and guidelines may limit its application. Here, we aim to develop a standardized neonatal lung ultrasound diagnostic protocol to be used in clinical decision-making.

Pneumothorax is a common emergency and critical disease in newborn infants that needs rapid, clear diagnosis and timely treatment. Diagnosis and treatment based on chest X-rays are associated with delayed management and radiation damage. Lung ultrasound (US) provides useful guidance for rapid, accurate diagnosis and the precise thoracentesis of pneumothorax.

A common protein extraction protocol using urea/thiourea/SDS buffer for human and mice brain tissue allows indentification of proteins by 2D-DIGE and their subsequent characterization by mini 2DE immunoblotting. This method enables one to obtain more reproducible and reliable results from human biopsies and experimental models.

2009

Lectin-conjugated POROS beads were employed for HPLC. Glycopeptide standards served as positive and negative controls. MARS-14 depleted, trypsin-digested human plasma was chromatographed and flow-through (FT) and bound fractions collected for ESI-LC-MS/MS analyses. Glycopeptides were enriched in the bound fraction as compared to FT.
