3d Laser Scanner

A 3D laser scanner is an optical measurement system that captures the shape and dimensions of physical objects or body surfaces, producing a three-dimensional digital representation. By projecting laser lines or points and recording their reflections with one or more cameras, the device calculates surface distances through geometric triangulation, then combines these measurements into a point cloud or surface model. In medicine, 3D laser scanning supports anatomical assessment, dental and prosthetic design, surgical planning, and quantitative monitoring of changes in body form, offering noncontact measurements that can improve documentation, customization, and comparison across time.

Laser Microdissection: A Technique to Isolate Invading Colorectal Cancer cells from a 3D Organotypic Culture Model

2023

The video describes the laser dissection of the 3D organotypic co-culture model with micron-level precision. In 3D organotypic models, stromal constituents such as fibroblasts are 3-dimensionally co-cultured with cancer epithelial cells. The 3D model serves as an experimental tool that enables invasion and cancer-stroma interactions to be studied in near-physiological conditions.

A scanner for imaging magnetic particles in planar samples was developed using the planar frequency mixing magnetic detection technique. The magnetic intermodulation product response from the nonlinear nonhysteretic magnetization of the particles is recorded upon a two-frequency excitation. It can be used to take 2D images of thin biological samples.

2016

A protocol to detect and automate mode locking in a pre-adjusted nonlinear polarization rotation fiber laser is presented. The detection of a sudden change in the output polarization state when mode locking occurs is used to command the alignment of an intra-cavity polarization controller in order to find mode-locking conditions.
