Dr Krishna Kant is a recipient of Marie Skłodowska-Curie individual fellowship in the Functional Nano-biomaterials Group at CINBIO, University of Vigo. He obtained his PhD in Nano-Biotechnology from Flinders University Adelaide, Australia in 2014. In his research career, Dr Kant has made significant contributions to the field of bio-sensing that involve the fabrication of microfluidic devices, nanoporous membranes and their application in drug delivery, separation, template synthesis and on-chip biomolecules recognition application. Dr Kant has published in several international journals and has attended numerous international conferences. Dr Kant`s present research interest is in the interdisciplinary field of advanced microfluidic systems and biosensing. His main focus is on-chip investigation of novel methodologies and multiplexed approach for point-of-care diagnostic applications.

Collection Overview

Microfluidics-based sensing technology is a swiftly growing field and has various potential diagnostic applications. The present need for point-of-care devices is in the context of not only disease monitoring and pathogen detection, but also in food safety and environmental monitoring. Various smart methodologies have been developed and presented for a variety of purposes in this area, from sensing to fabrication and integration methods.

The aim of this methods collection is to provide contributions on methods reporting on the latest technological developments in multiplexed sensors and other types of sensors integrated with microfluidics, including magnetic, optical, electrochemical, photonic, and other sensing strategies.

The scope of this collection on biosensing methods includes but is not limited to the below specified areas. They are as follows,

  • Lab-on-a-chip systems
  • Multiplexed microarray sensing
  • 3D printed microfluidic devices and biosensing.
  • Micro-Chip Fabrication technology for biological application
  • Biomimetic systems and model systems
  • Bio-photonic sensors systems
