
Reproductive health can be influenced by various conditions in males and females, encompassing non-pregnancy and pregnancy-related aspects in females. Multiple organs and tissues are involved in the female reproductive system, necessitating specialized knowledge and skills for in vitro investigations and cell isolation. Researchers often face ethical limitations when conducting human studies, so animal models, particularly mice, are frequently employed. Although immortalized human cell lines exist, they are commonly derived from tumors or have undergone modifications for immortalization. So, while they have their uses, investigating primary cells or tissues remains optimal for studying human reproduction and associated diseases.
This Methods Collection aims to present widely used techniques for isolating primary cells from human reproductive tissues for in vitro analysis. Additionally, it will highlight animal models employed in reproductive studies.
