Zebrafish (Danio rerio) has emerged as a pivotal model organism in modern biomedical research, bridging developmental biology with therapeutic discovery. Key features of the zebrafish embryo include transparency, rapid development, and genetic manipulation, making it an invaluable tool for studying early vertebrate development, gene function, and organogenesis. Moreover, zebrafish models are progressively employed to demonstrate complex disease pathways and explore potential drug candidates for cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological disorders.
In Methods Collection, we will focus on the diverse applications of zebrafish in studying biological processes and disease mechanisms. It will highlight recent advancements in zebrafish research methods, such as genetic and chemical screens, imaging techniques, and in vivo assays. By showcasing innovative applications and future directions, this collection will underscore the critical role of zebrafish in translating basic research into therapeutic strategies, emphasizing their utility in improving human health.
