Circadian rhythms are a fundamental feature of biological systems. In cardiovascular research, growing evidence supports a robust circadian regulation of cardiac electrophysiology (e.g., RR and QT intervals), heart rate, and blood pressure. However, modern lifestyle factors—such as increased exposure to artificial light at night, disrupted sleep, and irregular feeding patterns—have altered these rhythms, potentially contributing to the rise in cardiometabolic disorders.
This collection seeks to advance our understanding of cardiovascular circadian rhythms through methodological innovation and original research. We invite submissions presenting new experimental techniques, refinements of existing methods, and studies demonstrating the application of these tools in both physiological and in health and disease. The collection will include original research articles as well as methods papers, spanning a range of model systems including Drosophila, rodents (mice and rats), and humans.
By bringing together methodological advances and empirical studies, this collection aims to provide a comprehensive resource for researchers studying circadian biology in the cardiovascular system.
