Lung cancer poses a significant global health challenge, resulting in approximately two million deaths each year. Recently, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) has gained popularity due to its advantages, including reduced postoperative pain, preserved pulmonary function, and fewer complications after surgery.
Uniportal VATS is a minimally invasive surgical technique that involves performing surgery through a single incision. Studies indicate that uniportal VATS can achieve comparable clinical outcomes to multiportal VATS in terms of operative time, the number of lymph nodes harvested, chest tube duration, length of hospital stay, and pulmonary function. Additionally, uniportal VATS is linked to improved clinical results, including significantly less intraoperative blood loss and reduced total drainage volume.
In this collection, we welcome technical notes and videos of uniportal VATS procedures for anatomical lung surgery, such as anatomic lobectomy, segmentectomy, combined segmentectomy, and combined subsegmentectomy, as well as mediastinal lymph node dissection and sleeve resection.
