Advances in histochemical techniques for plant science have enabled the deciphering of specific physiological and developmental processes in plant cell and tissue structures. Histochemistry allows the visualization of nucleic acids, proteins, promoter activity, metals, minerals, carbohydrates, and lipids in plant cells and tissues, using specific hybridization, staining reactions, and imaging. Histochemical techniques in plant science require knowledge of both histochemistry and histology, and are important for the study of plant genetics, development, and physiology.
This Methods Collection aims to provide researchers with practical and easy-to-use histochemical protocols for plant science research, and to attract the interest of new researchers to this field. Contributions are invited from both experts and regular users of these techniques, and from various important fields of plant science.
