Human Behavioral Studies

Human behavioral studies systematically investigate how people think, feel, and act across individual and social contexts, providing evidence about behavior and the factors that shape it. Researchers use methods such as controlled experiments, behavioral observation, interviews, and surveys to measure responses and examine relationships among cognition, emotion, environment, and social interaction, often while applying ethical safeguards for human participants. These studies support research in psychology, neuroscience, education, public health, and organizational science by clarifying behavioral patterns, testing theories, and informing interventions, policies, and practices that improve human well-being.

2011

As manual dexterity is a prerogative mainly of primates, behavioral tasks have been developed in macaque monkeys. Four reach and grasp prehension tasks, measuring hand manipulation ability and force, allow to establish functional recovery after a lesion of the central nervous system and to test the effect of a treatment.

2019

Here, we present the computer-based, multi-agent game HoneyComb, which enables experimental investigations of collective human movement behavior via black-dot-avatars on a virtual 2D hexagonal playfield. Different experimental conditions, like variable incentives on goal fields or vision radius, can be set, and their effects on human movement behavior can be investigated.

Rodent Brain Microinjection to Study Molecular Substrates of Motivated Behavior

Cited by 4 •

2015

Rodents are an appropriate model to investigate the molecular substrates of behavior and complex psychiatric disorders. Brain microinjection in awake rodents can be used to elucidate disease substrates. An efficient and customizable brain microinjection method as well as the execution of an operant paradigm that quantifies motivation is presented.
