Pressurized Air System

A pressurized air system is an engineered setup that compresses, stores, regulates, and distributes air to produce controlled force or airflow, making it useful wherever repeatable mechanical action is required. A compressor raises air pressure, while reservoirs, regulators, valves, and tubing control when and how that stored energy is released. In behavior research, pneumatic systems can operate gates, levers, feeders, or other experimental devices with consistent timing and force during stimulus-response studies. Their adjustable pressure and rapid actuation support controlled behavioral testing, reduce variation between trials, and help researchers distinguish responses to experimental conditions from effects caused by imprecise equipment.

2013

The laser heated diamond anvil cell combined with synchrotron micro-diffraction techniques allows researchers to explore the nature and properties of new phases of matter at extreme pressure and temperature (PT) conditions. Heterogeneous samples can be characterized in situ under high pressure by 2D mapping and combined powder, single-crystal and multigrain diffraction approaches.

Wet Beveling of Microinjection Needles Utilizing Constant Air Pressure for Feedback on Needle Opening

Handling Air- and Water-Sensitive Chemicals Using a Schlenk Line

2023

Robert M Rioux, Ajay Sathe, Zhifeng Chen, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA The use of reagents sensitive to oxidation or moisture necessitates the use of air-free techniques. A Schlenk line is a routinely used glass apparatus to perform air and moisture free manipulations in a chemical laboratory1. The Schlenk line is widely utilized by many chemists since it allows them conduct air or water sensitive reactions even without the expense and restriction of a glove box. The...

Vapor Pressure

2020

When a liquid vaporizes in a closed container, gas molecules cannot escape. As these gas phase molecules move randomly about, they will occasionally collide with the surface of the condensed phase, and in some cases, these collisions will result in the molecules re-entering the condensed phase. The change from the gas phase to the liquid is called condensation. When the rate of condensation becomes equal to the rate of vaporization, neither the amount of the liquid nor the amount of the vapor...
