Ammonium Molybdate

Ammonium molybdate is a water-soluble molybdenum-containing salt used as a laboratory reagent and as a source of molybdenum in biological research. Under acidic conditions, its molybdate ions react with phosphate to form a phosphomolybdate complex, which can be reduced to produce a measurable blue color in colorimetric assays. In biology, this chemistry supports phosphate detection and quantification in samples, while molybdenum supplementation can help investigate molybdenum-dependent enzymes, including nitrate reductase and nitrogenase systems. Its controlled reactivity therefore connects analytical measurement with studies of nutrient metabolism, enzyme function, and microbial physiology.

This article describes construction of a series of hydrogen-bonding supramolecular clusters in crystals using primary ammonium triphenylacetates, which are recrystallized from non-polar solvents. This selective construction of the supramolecular clusters leads to effective systematical symmetric studies about a correlation between the supramolecular clusters and their components.
