Arginine Vasopressin Signaling

Arginine vasopressin signaling is a hormone-mediated communication system that regulates water balance, blood pressure, and several neuroendocrine functions. Arginine vasopressin binds G protein-coupled V1a, V1b, or V2 receptors, activating distinct intracellular pathways: V1 receptors stimulate phospholipase C and calcium signaling, whereas V2 receptors increase cyclic AMP and protein kinase A activity to promote aquaporin-2 insertion into kidney collecting-duct membranes. This signaling network enables the body to conserve water and adjust vascular tone in response to physiological conditions. Studying it supports research on renal function, hypertension, endocrine regulation, and disorders involving impaired fluid homeostasis.

Protein arginine methylation, catalyzed by a class of enzymes viz., protein arginine methyl transferases (PRMTs), is the process of enzymatic addition of methyl group(s) to arginines within proteins. The in vitro methylation assay is the most dependable tool for assessing the methylation status of known or novel PRMT substrates.

The αvβ3 integrin is a type of adhesion protein that is highly expressed on activated endothelial cells undergoing angiogenesis. Thus, evaluating the integrity of the integrin is of great interest in oncology. Here, we introduce a method to prepare 68Ga-labeled radiopeptides and a method to assess its biological effectiveness.
