Cd44 Cd24

CD44 and CD24 are cell-surface proteins used as molecular markers to distinguish cell states, particularly in studies of stem-like and tumor-initiating populations. CD44 acts as a receptor for hyaluronan and contributes to cell adhesion, migration, and signaling, whereas CD24 is a glycoprotein associated with cell interactions and signaling; their relative expression can therefore reflect differences in cellular behavior. Researchers commonly assess CD44 and CD24 together by flow cytometry or tissue staining, including the CD44-high/CD24-low pattern in breast cancer research, to characterize cellular heterogeneity, investigate tumor progression, and evaluate potential links to treatment resistance and disease recurrence.
