Combined Stress Treatments

Combined stress treatments are experimental approaches that expose cells, organisms, or biological systems to two or more stressors simultaneously or in sequence to examine their interactive effects. Stressors such as heat, drought, salinity, pathogens, or chemical exposure can activate overlapping defense pathways, alter resource allocation, and produce additive, synergistic, or antagonistic responses compared with single treatments. In biology, these designs more closely represent the multiple challenges organisms encounter in natural and clinical environments. Results help researchers identify mechanisms of stress tolerance, predict impacts on growth, survival, and reproduction, and develop more realistic models for ecology, agriculture, toxicology, and disease research.

Stresses under Combined Loadings

2024

When analyzing a bent tube with a circular cross-section subjected to multiple forces, it is crucial to determine the stress distribution in order to maintain structural integrity under varied load conditions. The process begins by slicing the tube at critical points and analyzing the internal forces and stress components at these sections, focusing on the centroid. Normal stresses, generated by axial forces and bending moments, are either compressive or tensile and vary across the section from...

Combination of High Ligation and Intraoperative Embolization Using Polidocanol for Treatment of Varicoceles

2023

To reduce the postoperative recurrence rate of varicocelectomy, we combined high ligation of varicocele with intraoperative embolization. We injected polidocanol from the spermatic vein during surgery to embolize the branches of the spermatic vein and collateral veins. This is an alternative surgical method for the treatment of varicocele.
