Dissecting Microscope Technique

Dissecting microscope technique is a low-magnification method for viewing and manipulating intact, three-dimensional specimens, making it useful for examining structures that cannot be studied easily with a compound microscope. A dissecting microscope uses separate optical paths for each eye to produce a stereoscopic image, while reflected or transmitted light illuminates the specimen and preserves its surface features. Researchers and students use this technique to perform dissections, sort organisms, inspect anatomy, and document developmental or morphological traits. Its large working distance and three-dimensional view support precise handling with tools, linking visual observation to practical investigations in biology.
