Larval Heart Preparation

Larval heart preparation is a laboratory method for isolating and exposing the developing heart of a larval organism so its structure and function can be examined directly. The procedure typically uses microscopic dissection to remove surrounding tissues while preserving the heart in a suitable physiological medium, allowing researchers to observe cardiac anatomy, contractions, and responses under controlled conditions. In biology, this preparation supports studies of cardiovascular development, heart function, genetics, and disease-related changes. It can also provide a practical model for evaluating how environmental conditions or experimental treatments affect cardiac performance during early development.
