Molecular Detection

Molecular detection is the identification and measurement of specific biological molecules, such as nucleic acids, proteins, or metabolites, to reveal the presence or activity of cells, pathogens, or genetic changes. It works by recognizing target molecules through complementary binding, selective chemical interactions, or signal-generating reactions, often combined with amplification methods that increase detection sensitivity. In biology, molecular detection supports pathogen diagnosis, gene expression analysis, mutation identification, and biomarker research. These methods provide detailed molecular information from complex samples, helping researchers investigate biological mechanisms and enabling earlier, more precise decisions in research, medicine, and environmental monitoring.

We describe a rapid, molecular-based Influenza A and B assay. The Influenza assay detects each target within 15 min by employing isothermal amplification with influenza-specific primers followed by target detection with molecular beacon probes. The Influenza A and B assay is user-friendly and required minimal hands-on time to perform.

Kinetic Molecular Theory: Molecular Velocities, Temperature, and Kinetic Energy

2020

The kinetic molecular theory qualitatively explains the behaviors described by the various gas laws. The postulates of this theory may be applied in a more quantitative fashion to derive these individual laws. Collectively, the molecules in a sample of gas have average kinetic energy and average speed; but individually, they move at different speeds. Molecules frequently undergo elastic collisions in which the momentum is conserved. Since the colliding molecules are deflected off at different...
