Peptide Normalization

Peptide normalization is the process of adjusting peptide samples so their amounts or concentrations can be compared on a consistent basis, an essential step in quantitative biological analysis. It typically involves measuring peptide abundance or concentration and then diluting, concentrating, or resuspending samples to a defined level or equal input before analysis. By reducing variation caused by unequal sample loading, peptide normalization improves the comparability and reproducibility of measurements in applications such as proteomics, peptide assays, and biological sample analysis, helping researchers distinguish genuine biological differences from technical variation.

The amyloid-β (Aβ)-injected animal model enables the administration of a defined quantity and species of Aβ fragments and reduces individual differences within each study group. This protocol describes the intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection of Aβ without stereotactic instruments, enabling the production of Alzheimer-like behavioral abnormalities in normal mice.

Normal Stress

2024

Normal stress is a type of stress that occurs when forces act perpendicular, or normal, to a material's cross-sectional area. This stress often arises in structures when subjected to axial loading, which is the application of force along the axis of an object. A practical example of this can be found in bridge truss members. When a rod is under axial loading, the internal forces and corresponding stress are normal to the plane of the section, so it is termed normal stress. It's important to...

A STAGE Tip Procedure for Desalting and Purification of Peptides

Source:Tia Rizakos1, Jennifer Geddes-McAlister11Molecular and Cellular Biology Department, University of Guelph. This video demonstrates peptide purification through the STAGE Tip procedure. A miniature column containing resin beads bonded to long hydrocarbon chains facilitates hydrophobic interaction-based purification. Upon loading a pre-digested peptide sample into the column, the peptide fragments bind to the resin beads, allowing impurities to pass through. An elution buffer that disrupts...
